1. Set Kya Hota Hai?

Definition:
A well-defined collection of objects is called a set.

Roman Urdu Explanation:
Set ka matlab hota hai cheezon ka aik group, lekin condition ye hai ke wo cheezen clear aur defined hon. Jahan confusion ho, wahan set nahi hota.

Examples:

Even numbers less than 10 = {2, 4, 6, 8}
Vowels in English alphabet = {a, e, i, o, u}

Not a Set:
“Good students” — kyun ke good har kisi ke liye different ho sakta hai.

2. Representation of Sets

(a) Roster Form

Jab hum set ke tamam elements braces { } ke andar likhte hain.

A = {1, 2, 3, 4}

(b) Set-Builder Form

Jab hum rule ya condition ke zariye set likhte hain.

General Form:
X = {x : condition on x}

X = {x : x is even and x < 10}

Roman Urdu: Set-builder form zyada tar exams mein aati hai kyun ke is mein logic check hota hai.

3. Important Types of Sets (Exam Focus)

Finite Set

Jis set ke elements limited hon.

{1, 3, 5, 7}

Infinite Set

Jis set ke elements khatam hi na hon.

Natural Numbers = {1, 2, 3, …}

Empty / Null Set

Jis mein koi element na ho.

Symbol: ∅

Subset

Agar set A ke saare elements set B mein hon.

A = {1,2}
B = {1,2,3,4}

4. Exam-Type Question (Solved)

Question:
X = {1, 4, 9, 16, 25, …}

Step 1: Pattern dekhein
1 = 1², 4 = 2², 9 = 3² → ye square numbers hain.

Step 2: Rule likhein

X = {x : x = n², n ∈ N}

Exam Tip:
Sirf “set of square numbers” likhna incomplete hota hai.

5. Power Set

Definition:
Ek set ke jitne bhi possible subsets hon, unka set power set kehlata hai.

Formula:
Agar set mein n elements hon → Power set = 2ⁿ

Solved Example

A = {x : x ∈ N, x ≤ 10}

Elements = 10
Power set = 2¹⁰ = 1024
