Welcome back to Part 2 of our Teaching License Test preparation series. In the previous post, we covered the first 5 Constructed Response Questions (CRQs). In this article, we share Questions 6 to 10 with clear, simple, and exam-oriented answers to help you boost your scores in the pedagogy section.

6. Teaching Methodologies (Teacher-Centered vs Student-Centered)

Question:

What is the basic difference between a Teacher-Centered method and a Student-Centered method? Give one simple classroom example for each.

Answer:

The main difference lies in who plays the active role during the learning process:

Method Type Core Focus Simple Example
Teacher-Centered The teacher talks most of the time, and students listen passively. A traditional lecture where the teacher explains a history chapter on the board.
Student-Centered Students actively participate, and the teacher acts as a guide/facilitator. Group work where students discuss a science topic and make a chart together.

7. Professional Development & Reflective Practice

Question:

What is meant by "Reflective Practice" for a teacher? How can a teacher implement it daily to improve their teaching quality?

Answer:

Reflective Practice means that a teacher thinks carefully about their own teaching methods after a lesson to find out what went well and what needs improvement.

A teacher can implement this daily through two easy steps:

  • Teaching Diary/Journal: Spend 5 minutes at the end of the day writing down which activity worked best and which student struggled to understand.
  • Student Feedback: Ask students a simple question before they leave, such as: "What was the most interesting part of today's lesson?" This helps the teacher plan better for the next day.

8. Guidance and Counseling in Schools

Question:

A student's grades are suddenly dropping, and they look depressed in class. What are two immediate steps a teacher should take as a counselor?

Answer:

As a teacher-counselor, the main goal is to understand the root cause of the problem with care and empathy:

  • Private Conversation: Talk to the student gently outside the classroom. Ask friendly questions like, "Is everything alright? I am here to help you if you are facing any difficulty." Do not scold them.
  • Parent-Teacher Collaboration: Schedule a brief meeting with the parents to check if the student is facing any issues or stress at home, so that both teachers and parents can support the child together.

9. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)

Question:

What is the difference between "Assessment of Learning" and "Assessment for Learning"? Explain with simple definitions.

Answer:

Both terms look similar but serve totally different purposes in education:

  • Assessment for Learning (Formative): This happens during teaching. It helps the teacher check student understanding on the spot and adjust the teaching speed or method according to student needs.
  • Assessment of Learning (Summative): This happens at the end of a term or year. It is used to grade the student and check how much of the syllabus they have successfully mastered.

10. Curriculum and Syllabus

Question:

Many teachers confuse Curriculum with Syllabus. Write two simple differences that separate Curriculum from Syllabus.

Answer:

Here are two easy points to distinguish between the two concepts:

  • Scope & Coverage: Curriculum is the total learning experience provided by a school (including subjects, sports, arts, and values). Syllabus is just a small part of the curriculum that lists the topics to be covered in a specific subject.
  • Design Authority: The curriculum is designed at a higher level (like the Ministry of Education or Textbook Boards), whereas a syllabus is a direct guide focused strictly on a single book or class exam.
